JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE PERFORMS AT THIS YEARS’ MFNW BRINGING A DEEPLY SOULFUL COUNTRY SOUND TO THE ALADDIN THEATER STAGE

Growing up in Nashville, Justin Townes Earle was immersed in the rich musical culture of the south as well as inheriting his father, Steve Earle’s, musical talent.  But the young Earle has gone beyond the roots of Nashville, expanding his personal genre through various other influences. His music stems from bluegrass, blues, rock and roll, R&B, ragtime, pre-war folk, as well as growing up playing in several punk bands.  He transcends the sounds of his father as well as the traditions of the south, creating a sound all his own. At 31, he appears far beyond his years. Already a recovering drug addict, Earle’s wisdom and heartache run deep throughout his music. He is sure to have a long career ahead. See him at MusicFestNW this year with Hiss Golden Messenger at the Aladdin Theater on Wednesday, September 4th.

Party with the Swedish pop duo Icona Pop at this years’ MFNW

This spontaneous and light-hearted Swedish duo brings a fresh modern vibe to the pop scene. Aino and Caroline were first introduced at a party, which seems fitting seeing as their friendship and musical experience have been nothing but that.  Their songs invite listeners into a world void of worries while encouraging audiences to embrace youth, fun, and living the dream. Watch Icona Pop’s new video for “Girlfriend” and an interview with MTV!  See the duo live on Wednesday, September 4th at the Wonder Ballroom as part of MFNW!  Peep the vids after the jump.
