The Tallest Man on Earth has released an iTunes only EP (physical release on November, 9th). Pitchfork has the track list and is streaming one of the songs from Sometimes the Blues is Just a Passing Bird now.

The Tallest Man on Earth plays at the Toyota Antics and KEXP stage at Doug Fir during MusicfestNW on Friday, Sept. 10, with The Cave Singers, Mimicking Birds and S. Carey. Entry with MusicfestNW wristband or $15 at the door. Doors open at 8:00 pm.

Also see The Tallest Man on Earth on Friday, Sept. 10th at 2:30 pm when he plays a set that will be broadcast live by KEXP from Doug Fir.

WEINLAND Rocks KOIN!

WEINLAND rocked the studios of regional news outlet, KOIN, on Friday afternoon with a high energy performance of ”It’s Already True” off of 2009’s Breaks In the Sun. Front man, Adam Shearer, discussed what it’s like to be a performer at the festival and KOIN host Anne Jaeger even gave a girl-power shout-out to guest drummer Rachel Blumberg (who used to play with the Decemberists). Be sure to catch WEINLAND with the Decemberists, Laura Veirs and Blue Giant on Saturday, September 11th, at Levi’s Pioneer Stage at Pioneer Courthouse Square.

WEINLAND’s known for covering epic rock ballads and neighbors have reported hearing lyrics like “I set a course for winds of fortune” echoing from the Shearer mansion as of late. It’s a show you won’t want to miss and at 4pm you have no excuse to.

In honor of the upcoming KEXP shows, broadcasting live from Doug Fir Lounge, I’ve gathered some videos of artists performing. Big Freedia is an accomplished “Bounce” Rapper who lives in New Orleans and performs six or more times a week in various venues throughout the city.

Bounce is an original urban music rising up from the intimate and fun-loving nature of the housing projects which dominate the city’s street culture. “Sissy Bounce” is the informal name for a derivative of Bounce that has risen to prominence in recent years and features explicitly gay and cross-dressing musicians and themes. Big Freedia is at the forefront of this movement and has had several New Orleans hit singles from her albums “An Ha, Oh Yeah” (1999) and “Queen Diva” (2003).

Freedia began her musical career almost 15 years ago at the Walter L. Cohen High School in Orleans Parish, where she was enlisted as choir director in her Junior and Senior years. She sees her performance as a Bounce artist as an extension of this work, often interacting in a call and response/teacher and student, fashion with her audiences.
